Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst
Location: West end Mississauga in office (remote working during the Pandemic)
Reports to: Senior Manager of Finance, Assistant Controller

  • A bachelors’ degree in commerce or accounting and a CPA from public practice
  • 3+ years of progressive experience

  • Strong communication skills


  • Big Four or National Firm accounting experience
  • Experience within the healthcare/pharmaceutical/biotech industry
  • Familiarity with SAP would be an asset

Primary Functions:

  • Consolidation and reporting of global financial results
  • Liaison with off-site finance teams and on-site auditors
  • Ensure the complete, accurate and timely consolidation and review of divisional financial results
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of operations and a full understanding of all issues affecting the results of operations to ensure consolidated financial results are accurate
  • Assess the impact and implement all necessary changes resulting from new guidance in the form of IFRS, OSC or any other regulatory body which has influence on our accounting policies or disclosure requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

Consolidation and Month-end reporting

  • Initial review of monthly divisional results with site management
  • Monitor compliance to finance accounting policies and implement changes where required
  • Monitor compliance IFRS policies and assist with implementation of changes where required
  • Assist with financial reporting matters and ensure they are ultimately resolved, i.e. new IFRS rules, financial reporting issues that arise etc.
  • Routine on-site visits to develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the operations
  • Assist with reporting to management the results of operations, controls and compliance with policies, tax filing, audit requirements, and legal statutory requirements
  • Ensure monthly consolidation of financial results is completed accurately within reporting timelines
  • Assist with posting of consolidation entries
  • Assist with preparation of related-party reconciliations
  • Assist with preparation of month end reports (balance sheet, income statement, group summary)
  • Complete monthly electronic consolidation binder for CFO review and sign-off

Financial Reporting

  • Support the preparation of quarter and year end schedules and other information requested for CFO review
  • Be a business partner to the operations and analyze monthly and quarterly results and understand variances from budget, recent trends, YTD etc.
  • Assist with preparation of complex accounting matters for quarter-end and year-end reporting
  • Assist in initial drafts of the quarterly and annual MD&A
  • Assist in the preparation of quarter-end financial statements and notes
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements and notes
  • Assist with public reporting requirements resulting from mergers or acquisitions
  • Ownership of commitments schedule and IFRS 15 trackers
  • Assist with all external audit matters
  • Assist with internal audit matters

Business Planning & Forecasting

  • Assist in the preparation of the operational financial plans
  • Analyze in detail and understand Divisional Budgets and expectations for future results (in relation to past results, future expectations)
  • Maintain all templates as assigned for the business plans

Operational Support

  • Support finance function in Varennes, Quebec – review of monthly financials, accounting assistance as required


  • Assist with internal review of controls and accounting policy application at company sites
  • Assist in completing IFRS research projects (Canada/US) on impact of any new guidance or regulations
  • Maintain full knowledge of finance and corporate policies
  • Manage all contracts and keep a list of all commitments for inclusion in public reporting filings
  • All other projects as assigned by the Sr. Director of Finance and Corporate Controller or CFO
